Phonics

In teaching phonics we use Read, Write, Inc. to support pupils.  Pupils are set across each year group to ensure that their individual needs are met appropriately.

Read, Write Inc is a Literacy Scheme which runs from Early Years, Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2.

It enables children to build on their phonic knowledge which in turn enables them to become confident speakers, readers and writers. The lessons are pacey, snappy and lively. As a result, all children are engaged in their learning and this is evident in the progress that they make.

As part of the scheme children are individually assessed so that a baseline for their phonics can be established. They are then placed into a group which caters for their specific needs. Each half term children are again reassessed their progress is tracked and they progress through the scheme at a steady pace.
